Who said that there is no love between cats and dogs? This touching story proves that some bonds between a cat and a dog are so strong that one would risk their life for the other!

The event took place in Edmond, Oklahoma, where a tiny pooch was miraculously saved from a vicious coyote attack– by none other than a feisty cat. At first glance, Oakley, a white Havanese dog, and Binx, a black cat, seem to belong to completely different worlds. But even so, they are family.

Lane Dyer, the owner of the two, explains for Oklahoma News how the attack - and the daring rescue - came to be.

“I was kind of inspired by it, quite frankly,” she said. The event occurred on November 30th, when the 6-year-old Havanese dog, Oakley, was let outside to go to the bathroom. “Out of nowhere she was attacked by a coyote,” said Dyer. Soon enough, another coyote came rushing.

Binx, who loves to explore the wooded backyard of the Dyer family home, would prove decisively that she is part of the family – where everyone matters. “She was a neighborhood cat that just showed up when she was about two months old,” said Lane.

As poor little Oakley was descended upon by two raging coyotes, Binx rushed in to help, not caring for the consequences. “Binx jumped down and scared them off, it was the craziest thing ever,” said Dyer. “The coyotes cut Oakley open and she was gushing blood, you know, from her chest and her side.”

Oakley was hurt, but Binx’s attack was so surprising that it drove the coyotes away. It also gave little Oakley a chance to rush back in. After seeing what had happened, the Dyer family rushed their dog to the Neel Veterinary Hospital. There, as her wounds were assessed, the vet told the family that the dog’s leg might have to be amputated. Luckily, the wounds healed perfectly, and Oakley is back to her antics.

“Thankfully, we had security cameras,” said Dyer. “We were able to go back and actually look to see what happened. It was inspiring to see just our little outdoor cat just jump at two coyotes that were attacking this little dog who she loves and run them off.”

Binx remains the watchful guardian of the Dyer family and shows us that cats and dogs can be lifelong friends, risking lives to save one another.
