This sweet and handsome pooch is looking for his forever home! Our Adoptable Dog of the Week is Blitzen, a little over one year old Labrador Retriever mix from Dayton, Ohio. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. Blitzen is a shy and gentle guy, so he’d need to meet any potential dog siblings in his new home to see if they get along well.

Blitzen’s Tale

Blitzen was found as a stray alongside his brother, Comet, and they’ve come a long way since then. Initially, as one would expect, they were unsure of their new surroundings and a bit afraid, but they’ve really started to open up and blossom. Blitzen spent some time in a foster family to help him come out of his shell, and it really did wonders for him, even though he’s definitely shyer than his brother. However, it doesn’t take much for this cute pooch to open up to you – some treats, patience, and gentle snuggles, and he’ll quickly nudge your hand for more. It doesn’t take more than a few days for Blitzen to warm up to you and show his wonderful, affectionate personality. He’d make a perfect addition to any family!

In case you already have a dog in the family, they might just be the perfect companion for Blitzen to overcome his shyness, but he’d have to meet them first to see if their personalities are a match. Or, you might be looking to adopt two dogs and you’d consider providing a home both for Blitzen and his brother Comet.

If these big, soulful eyes have charmed you too, you can contact the Humane Society of Greater Dayton to learn more about Blitzen and the adoption process. Finger’s crossed that this sweet boy is the one for your family!
